As in life, perspective is very important in photography. Perspective plays a considerable role in this quick shot I took while crossing a set of railroad tracks, with an impoverished man (recently relieving himself in the outdoors) crossing the other way. We both simultaneously stepped from one side to the other, but travelling in opposite directions.

Our geometry tells us that these two tracks are moving off towards infinity, perfectly parallel and never touching--though our eyes tell us they are moving closer together and must inevitably touch.

On several levels in our lives--personal, political, individual, governmental--it might be a good idea to pay attention to the mix of physics and geometry and eyes and intuition that are reflected in this photo.
